Pediatric dentistry (pedodontics) specializes in dental care for children from infancy through adolescence. It includes preventive care (fluoride treatment, sealants), restorative care (fillings, crowns for baby teeth), habit counseling (thumb sucking, tongue thrusting), and early orthodontic assessment.
At Saluja Dento Max Fac Centre, we create a positive, fear-free environment where children learn to love visiting the dentist. Our gentle approach, playful interactions, and child-friendly communication make every visit comfortable and fun.
NABH-grade safety ensures your child is in the safest hands — with hospital-grade sterilization, verified protocols, and trained staff. Every detail is designed to make your child’s dental experience positive, painless, and reassuring for both child and parent.
Does Your Child Have These Signs?
Early detection prevents bigger problems. Check these common signs of dental issues in children.
Common Childhood Dental Problems
Understanding the causes helps prevent dental issues in children.
Baby Bottle Tooth Decay
Putting a baby to bed with a bottle of milk or juice allows sugars to pool around teeth, causing rapid decay — especially in upper front teeth.
Poor Brushing Habits
Children often lack the dexterity or motivation to brush properly. Without parental help, plaque builds up and causes cavities and gum problems.
High Sugar Diet
Frequent consumption of sugary foods and drinks feeds decay-causing bacteria. The more often a child snacks on sweets, the higher the cavity risk.
Thumb Sucking
Prolonged thumb sucking beyond age 4-5 pushes front teeth forward and can alter jaw development, causing an open bite that needs orthodontic correction.
Teeth Grinding
Bruxism (teeth grinding) during sleep wears down tooth enamel and can cause jaw pain. Often related to stress, misaligned teeth, or airway issues.
Sports Injuries
Falls, sports collisions, and playground accidents can fracture, chip, or knock out children’s teeth. Custom mouthguards prevent most sports-related dental injuries.

What Parents Say About Us
Real stories from parents whose children received gentle, painless dental care.
My 5-year-old was terrified of dentists after a bad experience elsewhere. The team at Saluja Dento was incredible — they made her feel safe and even made her laugh! She had two fillings done painlessly and now actually looks forward to her dental visits.
My son had severe tooth decay from prolonged bottle feeding. Dr. Jagveer was so patient and gentle. The NABH safety standards gave us confidence. They did 4 fillings and fluoride treatment — all painless. Highly recommend for kids’ dental care!
Took my daughter for her first dental visit at age 2. The team made it such a fun experience — she got a tour, met the dentist, and even got a small toy. They taught us proper brushing techniques for her. This is how dental visits should be for kids!

Pediatric Dentistry FAQs
Answers to the most common questions parents ask about children’s dental care.
We recommend your child’s first dental visit by age 1 or within 6 months of their first tooth appearing. This early visit is about checking tooth development, guiding parents on proper infant oral care, establishing a positive dental experience, and building a foundation for lifetime dental health. Early visits prevent fear and catch developmental issues early.
Modern pediatric dentistry is designed to be painless and stress-free. We use: gentle techniques suited for children, topical numbing gel before any injections, computer-controlled painless injection technology, sedation options for anxious children, and a child-friendly environment. Most pediatric procedures are completely painless. We explain everything in kid-friendly language and never rush.
Children should visit the dentist every 6 months for routine checkups and cleaning — the same as adults. However, children with high cavity risk, orthodontic needs, or developmental concerns may need more frequent visits. Regular 6-month visits help us catch problems early when they’re small and easy to treat, apply preventive treatments, and reinforce good oral hygiene habits.
Yes. We use digital X-rays (RVG) which use up to 80% less radiation than traditional X-rays. The radiation from a dental digital X-ray is extremely low — comparable to natural background radiation received in a few hours. We only take X-rays when clinically necessary and use lead aprons for additional protection. Digital X-rays are completely safe for children.
Dental sealants are thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of molars (back teeth) to prevent cavities. They’re especially effective for children whose permanent molars have just erupted (around ages 6 and 12). The process is quick and painless — the tooth is cleaned, a gel is applied, then the sealant is painted on and hardened with a light. Sealants can reduce cavity risk by up to 80% in molars.
Prevent cavities with: Brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste (parent-supervised until age 7-8), flossing daily once teeth touch, limiting sugary foods and drinks (especially between meals), regular 6-month dental checkups, fluoride treatments at dental visits, dental sealants on permanent molars, and avoiding putting baby to bed with a bottle. We provide a personalized prevention plan at each visit.
Thumb sucking is normal in infants and usually stops by age 3-4 on its own. However, if it continues beyond age 4-5, it can push front teeth forward, cause an open bite, and alter jaw development — requiring orthodontic correction later. If your child is still thumb sucking at age 4+, book a consultation. We provide gentle habit counseling and, if needed, a habit-breaking appliance to help your child stop.
Decayed baby teeth should be treated, not ignored. Baby teeth hold space for permanent teeth — if they’re lost early due to decay, adjacent teeth shift and block permanent teeth from erupting properly. Treatment options include: tooth-colored fillings for small cavities, stainless steel or zirconia crowns for larger cavities, and extraction if the tooth can’t be saved (with a space maintainer to hold the gap). Early treatment prevents pain and infection.
Yes. While most orthodontic treatment begins between ages 9-14 when permanent teeth have erupted, some children benefit from early (interceptive) orthodontic treatment between ages 7-10 to guide jaw growth and correct developing problems. We recommend an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Early intervention can simplify or eliminate the need for braces later. See our orthodontics page for more details.
Yes — CGHS/ECHS/ESI/UP Police empanelment covers many pediatric dental procedures, including checkups, fillings, extractions, and fluoride treatment. Coverage varies by scheme and procedure — cosmetic procedures may not be covered. Bring your empanelment card and valid ID — our team handles all documentation for cashless treatment. We’ll clarify exactly what’s covered during your free consultation.
